YONAS W. TESFAI
Mixed-media illustrator and digital artist based in Oakland, California. His work includes a wide range of detailed portraits that celebrates the human spirit and Black experience with a powerful social and political commentary. His visual language takes influence from his unique lens as an Eritrean-American with roots in the Bay Area. His work is as truth-seeking and provocative as it is aesthetically vivid and powerful. Selected to design the medals and logo for the 2024 Oakland Marathon, Yonas brought his distinctive artistic vision to an international audience. His work has also been exhibited in numerous local and regional galleries, and he was the recipient of the 2020 Creatives in Place Art Residency.
